Who is H.A. Larson?

Yeah, who is this H.A. Larson person, anyway? That depends on who you ask, really, but if you ask me, it would go something like this:

I'm a creeping-up on middle-age woman who lives in the Midwest--Omaha, Nebraska to be exact--with my husband and two children. My husband and I have been married for over a decade, and we have a son that is eighteen (The Teen), and a daughter that is eleven (Nature Girl). I've lived in the Midwest for the majority of my life, and, while I love it, dream of being an expat somewhere else someday.

I write ebooks, mainly campy, short, paranormal/horror thrillers that I publish through various online retailers. I've written and published Cold, The Melody, The Station, and The Box which are all available for $2.99-$3.99 each, as well as a book of poetry called Deep, Dark, and Lovely which is available for $0.99. I'm currently working on my latest book titled Vanished. Information on where to purchase my books is located in the "My Body of Work" section of this website.

Besides my sixth book, Vanished, I've started a dystopian/cyberpunk book called Lola and the Machine. This last book is quite different than the others, and will take longer to complete. I also wrote editorials for a local magazine for over two years, but quit in Spring of '16 as I just didn't have the time for it anymore. I have a few short stories on the fire that I'm hoping to submit to some periodicals, and I do some occasional, freelance copy-writing and editing as well. Hey, what can I say? I love to write.

I'm not a traditional person. I follow my own path and live life on my terms, as much as one is able to anyway. I'm not into chick-flicks, shopping, listening to pop music, or watching television. I watch an occasional movie (usually scary ones), I read more classic tales than any other kind nowadays, and I love to dabble in ghost hunting. I quit smoking in January of 2014, I've been a vegan since May of 2015, and I started changing my relationship with food in August of 2017, all of which I've done for my health.

My free time is largely devoted to writing & promoting myself, and spending time with my family. My favorite things are: my family (obviously); being outside as much as possible (particularly hiking); adventuring; traveling (both internationally & domestically); listening to various forms of good music (I'm a die-hard metal fan); drinking good beer & wine; Renaissance Faires; good times with good friends; and anything to do with Autumn, including pumpkin patches, scary movies, Halloween, cooler weather, and beautiful foliage.

I have a day job at the University here in town, where I deal with money and numbers. I like it a lot, and my co-workers are great people.

As for being a Lady of Glencoe of Scotland...it's true. I own land in Scotland, County Glencoe, which technically makes me a Lady.

I blog about many aspects of life, whether it's my life (mostly), my work (often), or in general (sometimes).

This is a window into my world. Welcome.
